Title:  Consortium for Research and Education in Power and Energy Systems (CREPES) 2.0

Consortium for Research and Education in Power and Energy Systems (CREPES) 2.0 !! 

After a successful 3-year period with CREPES consortium,  FIU has received a new funding ($5M) from DOE NNSA to continue the Consortium (as CREPES 2.0) for the next 5 years (2024-2029). This is a collaborative effort among Florida International University (FIU), The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Alabama A&M University (AAMU), Sandia National Lab (SNL), and Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL). Dr. Sumit Paudyal from ECE is the lead PI, and Dr. Mohammad Ashiqur Rahman  from  KFSCIS  is Co-PI. 

During CREPES 1.0 (2021-2024), the consortium trained around 50 UG and 25 Grad students (from Minority Serving Institutions, MSIs) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities, HBCU) and created close to 50 internship opportunities for MSI/HBCU students that involve year-round internship at national labs. The consortium’s dissemination activities involved over 170 products (e.g., articles at journals/conferences, abstract/posters, presentation at prestigious IEEE PESGM, IEEE IAS Annual Meeting, best papers at IEEE, outstanding thesis, IEEE PES UG Scholarship, and others).
