Admissions

For students recently contacted regarding admission to the Graduate Program in the ECE Department, here is some important information to keep in mind. Please note admission to either program is not guaranteed.

1. After checking with the College Administration, students graduating in Spring 2020 will not be eligible for admission to the 4+1 Program but will be able to apply for admission to the regular Graduate program for Fall 2020.

You are encouraged to start the application process right away. Please note the minimum GPA for
the M.S. program is 3.0.

Additionally, you may apply as a Non-Degree Seeking student for Summer 2020, enroll in Departmental approved graduate courses in Summer, and have them count towards the MS degree once you are admitted.

2. Students graduating in Summer 2020 may still be eligible for admission to the 4+1 program.

Where it reads: Program of Application:  I am applying to the combined program, indicated below (check), beginning      the    Fall    Spring   Summer semester ____________(Year).    

Please indicate SUMMER 2020. Please note the minimum GPA for the 4+1 program is 3.2.

Once you are done, please send your completed application and CV to Ms. Luisa Ruiz (luruiz@fiu.edu) so the Department can reconfirm your eligibility for the program and can assist you in completing the rest of the form.

Freshman Student Admission

Apply early. You’ll need a high school degree from an accredited institution, official SAT/ACT scores, transcripts from all other colleges you’ve attended. 

Application materials consist of:

  • high school degree from an accredited institution
  • official SAT/ACT scores
  • transcripts from all other colleges you have attended
