USNC URSI Distinguished Radio Science Award is a prestigious honor presented by the U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI). The award recognizes significant contributions with a lasting influence in the field of radio science made throughout an entire career. The award represents the highest level of peer recognition for career-long impact within the U.S. radio science community. It is given to a single individual once every 3 years and highlights the achievements of a researcher in the areas of electromagnetics, antenna design, remote sensing, and related fields.
This prestigious national honor recognizes Dr. Volakis’s exceptional contributions to radio science and the impact of FIU’s RF/Wireless program. The award will be presented during the National Radio Science Meeting on January 8, 2026.
