The ultimate goal of this project is to develop and pilot novel interventions to enhance success of underrepresented students in STEM disciplines and ultimately to increase their retention in and pursuit of careers in STEM disciplines. This project is destined to provide an academic year exchange program in order to enhance underrepresented students' academic success in STEM by increasing their cultural competence.
Florida International University will be a part of this initiative with
- Fort Valley State University
- Savannah State University
- The University of Georgia
- Clark Atlanta University
FIU WILL BE EXCHANGING STUDENTS WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA THROUGH THE NATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE
Students who wish to participate in this exchange program must have the following requirements
- Sophomore in STEM majors by the time the exchange takes place
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- GPA of 2.8 or above
- Must be a student enrolled in one of the Universities that were mentioned above
- Interested in mentored research training programs
Students receive travel and most room/board acommodations at their host institution through their University's Tuition
